4 Things about the Gratitude Journal

What is a Gratitude Journal?

Just a “notebook” in which you write what you’re grateful for. I do it everyday for liiiiike….. 18 or 19months. It changed my thinking bc I think about Gratitudes so much MORE than my disease, meds, who NOT helping me, depression, etc.

It helped me so much that I have my 8th grader, 5th grader and 1st grader doing it too. They don’t write everyday but they write and I write to them in their journals sometimes which BLOWS their minds. Sunday night, my HS senior asked if she could do it with us!

How do you stay so positive?

Know what? In the beginning, it really REALLY was. What I learned was to forget being positive, focus on GRATITUDE. As you know, there’s a LOT of tough days but once I find a few Gratitudes, it kinda builds throughout the day. As the Gratitudes add up, I see more and MORE stuff to be grateful for and theeeeeen BOOM… suddenly I’m positive bc I have so much Gratitudes. Wife cooking, kids finishing anything, pretty day, stormy night of movies, clean clothes, blah blah blah.

How to stay motivated

Yoooo… I would love to lie and say shit like, “I have kids that need me. I love my wife. The Lord is my savior yada yada yada” but honestly, I spent over a year digging into myself with a Gratitude Journal, blog, write a self help ebook and over time, my perspective changed to appreciate TF outta whatever time I have left. I’ve gotten crazy about writing and blogging (prolly bc I can’t walk) so I finally have a passion and know my purpose. I can’t work so I blog my ass off.

How does Gratitude Journal help?

Start a Gratitude Journal. *folds arms* Start that Gratitude Journal ASAP. I was hospitalized for suicidal thoughts and mental confusion in 2017. I couldn’t teach anymore, bills stacking up, fired from real estate, fired from insurance, wife wanted divorce, filed bankruptcy, it was baaaad. I literally couldn’t hold a job at all because I’d miss time during the probationary periods. Everything changed when I began keeping a Gratitude Journal, posting Gratitudes. I’d do it for awhile, get busy and stop but know what? What I learned was to forget being positive, focus on GRATITUDE. As you know, there’s a LOT of tough days but once I find a few Gratitudes, it kinda builds throughout the day. As the Gratitudes add up, I see more and MORE stuff to be grateful for and theeeeeen BOOM… suddenly I’m positive because I have so much Gratitudes. Wife cooking? Gratitude. Kids finishing ANYthing from chores to homework? Gratitude. Pretty day? Gratitude. Stormy night of movies? Gratitude. My clothes clean? Gratitude. The color yellow, shaved well, ate good, blah blah blah are all Gratitudes. Once MY perspective changed, shit got better because I AM BETTER. I even like myself regardless of my handicaps & disabilities. I see TF outta my own worth.

This is an excursion of awakening into positive thinking, entrepreneurship, and natural healing while living life. In short, I am an AWESOME teacher-turned-Passioneer. No, I didn't retire because kids were too crazy, pay was too small, work was too much or forced to give too many tests. A Passioneer is an individual that exercises passion.
